Police Department

The River Edge Police department is comprised of 25 police officers and 8 civilian employees and is located within Borough Hall at 705 Kinderkamack Rd.  The department is split into 3 divisions that have different tasks in serving the borough: administrative division, patrol division, and investigations/community policing division.  River Edge is served by the 911 emergency system.

Fire Department

The River Edge Fire Department was founded in 1900 housed in 2 Companies located at different ends of the borough.  Company 1 is located next to borough hall and has 30 firefighters with 3 bays along with Truck 1, Engine 3, and Special Operations Units 1-7.  Company 2 located at 55 Ackerson St has 2 bays with Engine 2, Engine 4, Rescue 1, the Antique Engine 2, Marine 1, and Marine 2 boat units.

Ambulance Corps

The River Edge Volunteer Ambulance Service (REVAS) was founded in 1949 and has been answering calls 24 hours a day ever since.  The corp is comprised of 35 active members who respond to about 700 calls per year.  located at 210 Continental Ave next to memorial Park the corp is active in the community and has an impeccable reputation inside and outside of the community.

Department of Public Works

The River Edge Department of Public Works (DPW) is responsible for the maintenance of borough property as well as sanitation and recycling.  The yard is located at 500 Riverside Way where they maintain a recycling center where residents can discard certain recyclable items including glass 7 plastics, paper products, televisions, and other household items.  If you are looking to discard of an item and not sure they will accept it contact them directly at 201-599-6276, 6277.

The Department also is responsible for vegetation pickup as well as snow removal and residents are grateful for the tremendous job they do.
