River Edge Library

Welcome to the River Edge Library, long seen as the great meeting place of the town.  It is much more than a place to borrow a book as they offer classes, lectures, meetings, and simply a place to sit down with a good book.

River Edge has one of the finest libraries you will find in our area due to the programs for all ages, available resources, and the staff.  The River Edge Library offers a large selection of books, magazines, newspapers, digital books, and other resources that our residents use on a daily basis.

Bergen County Collaborative Library System (BCCLS)

The library is part of the BCCLS system which shares services with Bergen County libraries to provide a higher level of service.  This allows patrons to enjoy the entire catalog of the system, not just what we have on our local shelves.  You can reserve a book and the library system will deliver it to River Edge for you.

It also allows for a larger online catalog as well with e books and audio books available for online use.  You can also enjoy access to online magazines and other publications.

Youth Services

The River Edge Library offers a wide array of programs for kids highlighted by the wildly successful summer reading program.  That program challenges young readers to read everyday over the summer and awards prizes like a free ice cream or slice of pizza.  At the end of the summer children who complete the program are invited to an end of summer party with prizes, DJ, and refreshments.

Other programs offered include story times, afternoon movies, chess classes, coding class, and much much more.

Adult Programs

Not to be left out the library offers wide offerings for adults.  Many of these programs have been done online and can be accessed on the library website.  One of those popular online programs is Journeys into River Edge which explores the interesting stories of our town.

Some of the other offerings include English as a Second Language (ESL), art exhibits, computer classes, lectures, concerts, homebound delivery service, and exam proctoring.  You can also make copies or get a document notarized.

Friends of the Library

The Friends of the River Edge Library dates back to 1954 and is a volunteer organization designed to help the library.  They are responsible for bringing many great events to the library like the Bantry Boys concert for St Patrick’s Day, movie dates, and Shakespeare in the Park.

Their major event every year is the annual Memorial Day Book Sale which helps to fund many of the programs they sponsor.
